MARTIAN FAUNA
MARS FAUNA: ANIMALS
Found by Drrr. Phobos on gigapan MSL 1441 M100 SE-[EDR/PDS] (RE-RENDER) by Neville Thompson (Gigapan image technology by NASA).
Original SOL 1441 raw images by NASA's Curiosity Rover.

Drrr. Phobos notes:
Animals resembling Earth's hippopotamus.
Two creatures with so many details in the supposed right places are too much to be just pareidolia.
Mars seems a Prehistoric planet and there are places in Gale crater resembling a 'Lost World'.
Perhaps Mars is in a period equivalent to the Triassic on Earth, when the atmosphere had high levels of carbon dioxide and much less oxygen.
The two animals in this image seem to be alive although there is the possibility that many martian creatures are fossilized, petrified, mummified and mineralized (in particular those found on lake beds in other zones of Gale crater, reminding the salt mummies - animals turned into 'statues' - of lake Natron/ Earth / Tanzania).
